This webinar, held in partnership with UNC professor, Lydia Boyd, will feature Dr. Peter Waiswa, Department of Health Policy, Planning, and Management, School of Public Health, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda (MD, MPH, PhD) and will discuss the topic “Strategies for Building Effective Research Partnerships in Africa: Incentives, Challenges and Risks.”

Event Objective: Provide an African researcher’s and African university’s perspective on research partnerships with the West. Some questions:

1. What are some of the obstacles that African researchers face in designing and funding projects?

2. What are some successful models for cross-continental research partnerships?

3. How are research priorities identified, and what weight is given to African partners in highlighting priorities?
