Diversity Statement
The African Studies Center embraces diversity as a goal and guiding value in all of our activities. We broadly define diversity to include race, gender, national origin, ethnicity, religion, social class, age, sexual orientation and physical and learning ability. To this end we strive to:
- Promote diversity in the recruitment of faculty, staff, students;
- Promote the integration of diversity into our African Studies curriculum and research;
- Promote an academic environment in which diverse opinions can be shared openly;
- Encourage the participation of underrepresented groups in all of our activities.
