The Department of African, African American, and Diaspora Studies will host a series of colloquium talks featuring key speakers. The talks are held monthly on Wednesdays.  Schedule and Registration  

The first talk in the series will be given on September 30, 11:00 AM ET by Prof. Youssef Carter, Department of Religious Studies, UNC-Chapel Hill, and is titled “The Overwhelming Event and Black Testimony from the Immanent Divine.” 

Future talks this fall include “Visual Markers of Freedom: Images of Afro-Brazilian Laborers during Gradual Abolition and Beyond” and “White Balance: How Hollywood Shaped Colorblind Ideology and Undermined Civil Rights.”
