Spring 2023 Southeast Regional Seminar in African Studies (SERSAS)
March 3, 2023 - March 4, 2023
Hosted by the Carter G. Woodson Institute at UVA with support from the African Studies Center at UNC and the African Studies Center at the University of Florida, we are pleased to announce the 50th anniversary convening of the Southeast Regional Seminar in African Studies at UVA. The first meeting took place in 1973 at UVA, co-organized by Joe Miller (History, UVA) and Rutledge Dennis (Sociology, VCU).
We look forward to connecting and building on the years of SERSAS in Charlottesville on March 3 – 4, 2023. The theme for 2023, “Foundations and Futures: 50 Years of SERSAS,” opens a conversation about who we are, what we’ve done, and where we’re going as individual scholars and as a community.
The deadline for conference papers/panel submissions/abstracts is December 9, 2022. More information.
