SERSAS/SEAN Fall Conference: Black Lives: Global Structures of Inequality and Justice

October 8, 2021 @ 8:00 am - October 9, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

Global inequities in terms of wealth, health care, and resource distribution, continuing questions of justice and identity, and the disproportionate impact of climate change on the global south, have exposed the connections and entanglements between justice, distribution, and civil rights. This fall’s conference, Black Lives: Global and Local Structures of Inequality and Justice, seeks to explore the structures that have shaped and continue to shape the lives of the peoples of Africa and the African Diaspora. This fall’s conference gives preference to research that emphasizes African initiative in seeking justice and creating change in local, regional, and global contexts. The keynote speaker of this fall’s conference will be Rosalind Fredericks (Gallatin School, NYU) who will speak on Friday, Oct. 8, 4:30-5:30pm, on the topic of  “Uncanny Exposures: Embodied Infrastructures and Toxic Solidarities at Dakar’s Dump.”  More Info
