SUMMER 2020 ASC PROJECT: Digital SDGs Content for Teaching and Info on Africa
ASC plans to create asynchronous digital content on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa and its progress along the SDGs.
ASC is committed to supporting teaching and learning of Africa that is contemporary and timely, meaning that it sheds some light on the impact and potential of ongoing events. The need for digital materials for teaching is timely. It will also make access easier, thereby increasing use current Africa-related materials by our community: K-12, faculty, students, and community members.
Digital contents can be but not limited to these forms: videos, audio (podcast), slideshow, infographic and illustration. The digital form for this project will be a 5-min infographics video. This phased project will start in summer 2020 and end by December 2020.
There are 17 SDGs, but this first phase (June – July 2020) will focus on creating rapid fire – infographics video content for SGDs 1 – 6. These goals are:
· Goal 1: No Poverty
· Goal 2: Zero Hunger
· Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being
· Goal 4: Quality Education
· Goal 5: Gender Equality
· Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
This project hopes to provide contemporary update on Africa’s socio-economic development progress, integrated with the impact of COVID-19 and showcasing the challenges and opportunities.
Start date is June 15 to July 31,2020. We would like to work with any faculty member at UNC Chapel Hill, a Minority Serving Institution or Community College. Each content will also be in collaboration with an expert in Africa to complement ASC and NC faculty team. If you are a faculty member in NC, in one of the institutions mentioned above and with expertise or interest in one of the topics below, please contact Ada Umenwaliri at adaozo@email.unc.edu.
