Between 1904 and 1908, Germany perpetrated the first genocide of the twentieth century against the Herero and Nama people in the Germany colony of South West Africa, or present-day Namibia. Participants will learn about the thousands of Africans who perished as Germany interned survivors in concentrations camps, subjected them to forced labor, and conducted medical experimentation. This presentation will delve into themes of historical erasure, memory, reckoning, and preservation.
